You just control where they move with the keys and control where they aim and fire with the mouse, but it's still top down and their accuracy is still entirely dependant on the individual soldier's skill, pose, and distance from the target. Men of War, Faces of War, and Soldiers: Heroes of World War 2 are all part of the same series of super detailed tactical strategy games that allow direct control of units, but it's not like a first person shooter. 30 still feels like the chaotic, exciting fireworks. I think Uprising was the Wolf3d FPS/RTS hybrind genre, and Battlezone was it's Doom. For all of its timely trappings on the single-player side, though, Company of Heroes 3 ’s multiplayer which launches in pre-alpha on Nov. I really do wish there were more games like Battlezone though. It's a strategy game where you direct control your units and your base is a giant submersible carrier. I'll bring Hostile Waters: Anteus Rising to the table. Supreme Commander (FAF) and stronghold is more macro focused. They're hybrids of RTS (base building, research) and a reverse-RPG (you are the quest-giver to the heroes you hire). Was it dumbed down from the original? Anyone know? Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim and Majesty 2. ![]() Though I suppose it doesn't help that Battlezone 1 is a totally unrelated "remake" of the vector graphics tank shooter, that's why the main menu has that cute little vector graphics movie. People seem to be confusing Battlezone with Battlezone 2 for some reason. Haven't played Sacred 2 but Sacred 1 doesn't.
